Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE)

Every single member of an aircrew in every military branch must be able to survive on their own in any environment under any conditions should their aircraft go down. Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) specialists teach them everything they need to know to do just that. From how to build shelters and procure water to land navigation and evasion techniques, the skills you teach could be the difference in a crew member getting home safely.
Career Tasks
- Conduct operations around the world preparing aircrew and high-risk-of-isolation personnel to return with honor from any type of survival situation
- Train in all major climatic conditions: arctic, desert, tropical, ocean and temperate
- Complete intense training in the following areas: wilderness living, shelter construction, fire building, map and compass navigation, backpacking, food and water procurement, wilderness medicine and first aid, signaling and rescue techniques, escape and evasion, conduct after capture and techniques for instructing all of these skills
