Minimum Education Requirement: Master’s degree in nurse-midwifery or a Master’s degree in nursing with a post-graduate certificate in nurse-midwifery and be certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) in Nurse Midwifery

Healthcare Professional

As an Air Force Nurse Midwife, you’ll be on the front lines of women’s health by caring for female Airmen and the spouses of male Airmen during pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum. Your guidance, care and expertise will help Air Force families around the globe bring their children into the world. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to continue your education and training and enter the Air Force as an officer, giving you instant respect and credibility.

Career Tasks

  • Provide comfort, support and expertise in medical-midwifery care during pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum
  • Independently manage women’s healthcare with emphasis on the maternity cycle and practice in collaboration with an obstetrician/gynecologist or family practice physician
