The challenges of working in the Air Force can be both physically and mentally taxing. As a Mental Health Service Specialist,it’ll be up to you to make sure that every Airman is mentally fit. You’ll work with teams of Psychiatrists and Psychologists to evaluate and provide mental healthcare to patients around the world. Through your work, you’ll help people overcome mental obstacles and issues so they can get back to being the Airmen they trained so hard to be.
Career Tasks
- Interview patients to obtain clinical information that may assist in determining the patient’s psychological and psychosocial status
- Provide guidance and counseling to assist patients in achieving a more satisfying personal, family, social and occupational adjustment
- Administer and score psychological tests
- Provide supportive nursing care for physically ill patients
- Take charge of administrative duties of the mental health clinic
