As an Air Force Health Physicist, you’ll work in a medical facility to ensure proper and safe working conditions of radiological equipment ranging from x ray machines to particle accelerators. Ensuring a healthy working environment for our medical staff and patients is obviously important, and you’ll play a key role in creating and maintaining such an environment.
Career Tasks
- Make decisions on issues related to environmental, occupational and wartime uses of ionizing (nuclear, radiological) and nonionizing (laser, radar, microwave) radiation
- Typical duties involve radiation surveillance, risk assessment, determining regulatory compliance and responding to radiological incidents
- Work at major Air Force medical facilities where radiation sources (including x-ray machines, particle accelerators and radioactive materials) are used to diagnose and treat human diseases, ensuring proper and safe working conditions for both patients and medical staff
