Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and completion of a didactic program in dietetics approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA)

All the training, teamwork and technology in the world can’t overcome an exhausted mind and body. As an Air Force Dietitian, you’ll develop and implement nutrition plans to keep Airmen at their peak mental and physical ability whether they’re on base or in the field. From patient education and menu planning to policy formulation and advising commanders, you’ll play a key role in keeping our Airmen prepared for any situation.

Career Tasks

  • Promote sound nutrition practices and provide a supportive environment for in-garrison and deployed military operations that optimize human performance
  • Perform a variety of management and clinical duties, including nutrition assessment and patient education, menu planning, conducting patient interviews and training nutrition personnel
  • Formulate and implement policies for nutritional medicine service and serve as an adviser to a commander in matters of nutrition and dietetics
