Dermatologist

Minimum Education Requirement: M.D. or D.O. degree and completed an ACGME- or AOA-accredited program of postgraduate specialty training.

Healthcare Professional

The men and women of the U.S. Air Force serve in diverse climates, conditions and continents. This can expose them and their skin to things a civilian dermatologist may never see. As an Air Force Dermatologist, you’ll be able to expand your knowledge while treating some of the finest men and women in the country.

Career Tasks

  • Provide both direct and consultative care as a specialist for diseases of the skin, hair and nails in a mix of medical and surgical dermatology in both hospital and modern clinic settings
  • Provide input for diseases of military importance like pyoderma, eczema and tinea, as well as smallpox, anthrax and leishmaniasis
  • Opportunities to teach dermatology to medical students, interns and residents at several graduate medical education centers
  • Participate in humanitarian missions to underserved areas of the world
  • Prepare and review case histories, obtain data through interviews, examine patients and determine appropriate diagnostic tests
  • Interpret test results, evaluate findings and prescribe treatments
